Taxi Booking Checklist
Nevsehir Kapadokya Airport (NAV) is the closer airport for Ihlara Valley, but flight time and arrival schedule can still make the other airport practical.
Compare the total journey, not only the flight: NAV is about 75-95 minutes and ASR is about 95-120 minutes by private taxi.
For late-night arrivals or early departures, a pre-booked private taxi is the most predictable option from either airport.
Many travelers fly into one Cappadocia airport and out of the other; private taxi rides can be booked separately for NAV and ASR.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which airport is closer to Ihlara Valley, NAV or ASR?
Nevşehir (NAV) is closer to Ihlara Valley at 90 km. The other airport is 120 km away. Taxi time difference is approximately 20–25 minutes.
Is NAV worth choosing for flights to reach Ihlara Valley?
If the flight time works for your plan, NAV is often the most convenient choice because it usually shortens the road taxi. If you need more flight options, ASR can be more practical.
Can I fly into NAV and out of ASR (or vice versa) for Ihlara Valley?
Yes, this is very common. Many Cappadocia visitors fly into one airport and depart from the other. Private taxi services handle both airports. Pre-book both taxi rides for guaranteed availability, especially in peak season (April–October).
Are international flights available at NAV or ASR for Ihlara Valley trips?
Direct international flights are very limited at both airports. Most international travelers connect via Istanbul (IST or SAW). ASR occasionally hosts charter flights from Europe in summer; NAV is almost exclusively domestic.
Which airport is better for an early balloon ride in Ihlara Valley?
Either works if you arrive the day before. Arriving the same morning of a balloon ride is risky — balloon flights launch at 5–6 AM and most NAV/ASR flights don't land until later. Plan to arrive at Ihlara Valley the previous evening.
